The commodity wholesale market depicted higher trend in certain items while generally they were seen fluctuating rarely during the week ended on January 27, 2007, where variation's were marked in black pepper, dry ginger, makai, masoor Australia ad Canada, urad Burma, rice, moong, and raw rubber.
The session on Monday began with sharp changes in cereals. The trading was said to be hectic on the day. Makai turned lower, the inferior type shed Rs 20 to Rs 1070 while the better type was put at Rs 1100. Masoor Australia gave up Rs 100 to Rs 3000. Masoor Canda was down by Rs 50 to Rs 2900. Masoor dal down by Rs 100 to Rs 3500, better type was quoted at Rs 3600. Urad Burma lost Rs 50 to Rs 1450 and better type was quoted at Rs 1700. Rice prices were higher on export. Irri 9 Sindh new inferior gained Rs 200 to Rs 1800 and better type up Rs 185 to Rs 1885.
Irri Six Sindh rose by Rs 25 to Rs 1285. Basmati D-9 Shahdad Kot inferior type lost Rs 150 to Rs 2650, and good quality was higher by Rs 100. Basmati Bagrjee rose by Rs 150 to Rs 2750 and better type quoted higher at Rs 2800. Super Karnal old low type was sharply higher by R 400 to Rs 3800, and better type was higher by Rs 200 to Rs 4000. New type of super Karnal rose by Rs 300 to Rs 3300, and better quoted at Rs 3400. Basmati broken was up Rs 200 to Rs 1700 and better type quoted at Rs 2000.
At Jodia Bazar black pepper closed lower by Rs 100 to Rs 5900, big Cardamon rose by Rs 600 to Rs 9800, clove gained Rs 500 to Rs 11,000, dry ginger closed lower by Rs 100 to Rs 3700, and sago went up by rs 150 to Rs 1350.
ON TUESDAY COMMODITIES ON WHOLESALE MARKET WERE QUIET: Items on Jodia Bazar such as jute goods twine (per kg) 20x3 brown moved higher by 50 paisa to Rs 39, 16x3 CRT/Indus rose higher by 50 paisa to Rs 39, 40x2 brown moved higher by Re 1 to Rs 38 and 8x3 was quoted at Rs 60. Hessian cloth 50x9 Thal down by Rs 50 to Rs 1600, 45x9 went up by Rs 25 to Rs 1525, Thal went down by Rs 50 to Rs 1400 and 45x8 united was quoted at Rs 1100.
On Wednesday moong Punjab was sharply higher by Rs 125 to Rs 1425, urad from Burma low type was up Rs 50 to Rs 1500 and better type was up Rs 15 to Rs 1300.
On Thursday wholesale markets had changes. Barley Sindh and Mardan gained Rs 1125. Irri white was higher by Rs 5 to Rs 1135 and better type quoted at Rs 1140. At Jodia Bazar raw rubber from Ceylon RSSV closed up by Rs 3 to Rs 65 and pale crape TPC 3 was up at Rs 75 and Latex Semann Tex was higher by Rs 70 to Rs 460, and Thai was up Rs 70 to Rs 460.
The commodities wholesale market reported no variations on Friday. Jodia Bazar had following changes in (per 40 kg) black pepper Singapore, rose by Rs 400 to Rs 6,600, black pepper from Brazil closed up by Rs 300 to Rs 6,800. Big cardamom closed higher by Rs 600 to Rs 10,400. Dry ginger closed lower by Rs 300 to Rs 3,400. Peanuts closed with a gain of Rs 100 to Rs 3500, poppyseed ended up with a gain Rs 100 to Rs 1050, sago ended down Rs 75 to Rs 1275, and star aniseed down by Rs 200 to Rs 5000.
On Saturday prices tended downwards particularly in grams sector.
