The rupee managed to hold its overnight levels against the dollar in the interbank market on Friday for buying and selling at 60.74 and 60.75, respectively. In the world markets, the dollar showed firmness against the leading currencies, they said.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee maintained its surge against the dollar for the second day, gaining five paisa for buying and selling at 60.78 and 60.88, they said. The rupee resisted more losses versus the euro, was abit up at Rs 78.90 and Rs 79.00for buying and selling , they said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee gained 5 paisa in relation to dollar in Lahore currency market on Friday. According to dealers, the dollar commenced trading at overnight rates of Rs 60.80 and Rs 60.90 for buying and selling, respectively. In the absence of buyers, it could not sustain and moved down to Rs 60.75 and Rs 60.85 for buying and selling, respectively, dealers said.
On the contrary, the rupee lost 10 paisa against pound sterling, as the pound was purchased at Rs 119.10 and sold at Rs 119.40 against Rs 119.00 and Rs 119.30 of Thursday, dealers added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee remained firm against dollar at the currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Friday. The dollar opened at Rs 60.90 (buying) and Rs 61 (selling) against same last rate. It did not witness any change in the last trading hours and closed at Rs 60.90 (buying) and Rs 61 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 119.20 (buying) and Rs 119.40 (selling) against same previous rate. It did not witness any change by the end of second session and closed at Rs 119.20 (buying) and Rs 119.40 (selling).
