Advanced Fiber Systems (AFS) - Energy Solutions Business Segment of DuPont Pakistan Operations (Pvt) Ltd on Thursday signed an agreement to provide technical consultancy to Pak Elektron Limited for dry type transformers manufacturing.
Under this agreement, AFS, Pakistan will provide insulation material and wrapped conductors made with DuPont(TM) NOMEX(R) aramid paper. DuPont(TM) Nomex(R), which forms the major insulating material in the transformer, will provide superior flame resistance property as compared to other insulating materials. Hence, Nomex(R) papers and pressboards offer major design improvements in the dry type transformers with enhanced safety, low transmission losses, reduced costs and an improved capability for harmonic loading.
PEL will manufacture transformer with aromatic polyamide Nomex(R) paper based on the proprietary technology of DuPont. These transformers supply loads with heavy harmonic content frequently at very high hot temperatures. But dry type transformers designed with Nomex(R) will sustain large reserve temperature capable of withstanding these hot spots with no loss of life and combustion in air.
Transformers made by PEL will now offer large safety margin in the transformer design and bring a concept about reliability and conformity with the principles of environment protection. As of today, dry type transformers have been enhanced with the superior performance of DuPont(TM) Nomex(R) paper and pressboard insulation for more than 35 years.
The strategic relationship will help fuel the applicability of Nomex(R) paper in the manufacture of dry-type distribution transformer boosting local industry standard for safety, reliability and environment protection.-PR
