'Afaq', an amalgam of five educational channels, including Islami Nizamat Taleem Pakistan, Al Ghazali Trust, Hira Foundation, Red Crescent and Green Crescent, has imparted training to 30,000 teachers working in 4,000 institutions in the country.
The training has been given on a syllabus drafted by 'Afaq' after thorough study and comparison of the syllabuses of nine countries, said Regional Director, 'Afaq', Amirzeb, and Director, Islami Nizamat-e-Taleem, Fazullah Daudzai, while addressing a joint press conference here at Peshawar Press Club on Sunday.
The drafting of the new syllabus cost Rs 25 million and, out of this amount, Rs 6 million was spent on the publication of 100 titles.
Government of Punjab, Unicef, Iqra Education System and Hira Schools and Colleges have also signed training contracts with 'Afaq', they added.
Apart from training 30,000 teachers, 'Afaq' also trained 400 master-trainers. Of these, 25 were females, and 100 master-trainers belonged to NWFP.
