Punjab Minister for Communication and Works, Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din Khan has said that underpass would be constructed at Muslim Town to reduce traffic pressure at Ferozepur Road.
He was presiding over a high level meeting at his residence, on Sunday. Secretary C&W Ahmadyar Khan, Addl. Secretary (Technical) Masood-ur-Rasool, Deputy Secretary Highways Yunis Aziz, Chief Engineer Highways (North) Muhammad Iqbal Khokhar, Superintending Engineer Munawar Bashir and other officers attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that Planning and Development Department has given approval for the construction of Muslim Town underpass. Tender of this underpass would be called and work would be started soon on this mega project. The meeting also reviewed the pace of work on ongoing schemes in Lahore.
The minister was informed that work in progress on 18 schemes with the total cost of Rs 5,052 million in the provincial capital and out of which 10 schemes would be completed during the current fiscal year. The minister directed the Chief Engineer Highways to accelerate the pace of work so that these schemes could be completed in time. He warned that strict action would be taken against such officers who failed to complete the schemes within stipulated period.
