Jamat-e-Islami Chief and President of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal Qazi Hussain Ahmad on Monday urged Supreme Court of Pakistan to take notice of the loss of lives during Basant and award exemplary punishment to the violator of apex court's decision regarding banning kite flying.
"It is important that Supreme Court of Pakistan should take notice of the killing due to kite flying and aerial firing in Basant to establish its writ and award exemplary punishments to those violated the ban and pave the way of killing innocent child with stray bullets and illegal kite strings" Qazi told media here after addressing a tribal Jirga where known tribal chieftains from North Waziristan and other agencies joins Jamat-e-Islami.
The MMA chief said organising the festival to entertain some influential at the cost of innocent lives could not be allowed in a civilised society therefore it had become important that Supreme Court should come in action inquire of the deaths which caused during the Basant festival.
"General Musharraf is responsible for the killing of the innocent child and for the loss of precious lives due to a festival aimed to promote obscenity and a culture repugnant to Islam. The festival not confined to just flying the kites but he (Musharraf) wants to promote dance culture in order to get support for his enlighten moderation theory however he would fail in his plans and nation would rise against the vulgar culture" MMA chief remarked.
Observing Basant at the time when people of the country, Qazi said were passing through agony and shock of Samjhota Express incident and suicide attacks, had no sense as it had further added salts to the wounds of the families lost nears and dears in the train incident.
