Sindh government has issued a notification giving status of an 'attached department' to the college education management (CEM) in the province. According to the notification received here on Monday, the government of Sindh, with the approval of the governor of Sindh, has given status of 'attached department' to the college education management.
The notification issued by the services and general administration also declared the provincial education manager (PEM) (colleges) as 'head of attached department'.
It may be recalled that the control of 238 government colleges in the province was transferred to provincial government from city and district governments with effect from July 1, 2006, through an ordinance issued by the governor of Sindh.
Subsequently, the provincial government submitted the case to the governor for an amendment in the government of Sindh's Rules of Business 1986, to make college education management an attached department.
With the status of an attached department, most of the administrative and financial matters of colleges would be resolved at the level of the PEM (colleges)/head of the attached department, an official said.
This would help the office of the PEM (colleges) to concentrate fully on college education and facilitate the college staff members as well as general public in quick disposal of the matters.
