Sindh Minister for Environment, Dr Saghir Ahmed appreciated the efforts of students for nature conservation and dedicating so much time to participating in the WWF Nature Carnival. According to a press release issued on Monday, the minister was speaking as chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony on the occasion.
The annual Nature Carnival was organised by WWF Pakistan to educate the general public about the significance of nature conservation and to raise funds for the promotion of its activities.
ICI Pakistan Ltd, and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) partnered for the eighth consecutive year, to organise the WWF Nature Carnival at the PAF Museum, Sharah-e-Faisal, Karachi, which was attended by over 10,000 visitors.
The minister lauded the efforts of all participants saying, the WWF and ICI had been very proactive in highlighting the issues that concern Pakistan's environment as well as providing an opportunity to learn "what role we can all play in preserving the environment around us."
Each year the event involves participation from corporate concerns, educational institutions, and students, and offers an excellent opportunity for creating awareness on critical environmental issues, with a healthy mix of educational and entertaining activities.
Visitors to the WWF Nature Carnival 2007 had the opportunity to participate in an exciting range of activities, including a nature exhibition and competition, fun fair, puppet and magic shows, musical performances, various games and an environmental quiz, as well as learning more about ICI Pakistan, its products and its various activities in the area of community development and environment preservation.-PR
