imageMeryl Streep's Golden Globe speech was one of the most praised acceptance speech when the actress in a nearly 6-minute address denounced Donald Trump's campaign and criticized him for mocking a disabled reporter. Trump too reacted and called her over-rated on his Twitter.

Now, in an emotional and another inspiring speech at a fundraising gala for the Human Rights Campaign, a LGBTQ group, Meryl Streep doubled down on her harsh criticism of President Donald Trump. She said, "Yes, I am the most overrated, over-decorated and currently, I am the most over-berated actress of my generation," she said to the cheering crowd, foreign media reported.

Streep was receiving the group's National Ally for Equality Award, and was the huge draw of the evening. Introduced by filmmaker Ken Burns, she took the stage to a thunderous ovation. In the event, Streep reflected on gay and transgender teachers who helped foster her love of the arts and of theatre.

Streep closed her speech with a call to arms for the people who may feel dispossessed and upset over Trump's election. "We have the right to live our lives, with God or without, as we choose," Streep said. "There is a prohibition against the establishment of a state religion in our constitution, and we have the right to choose with whom we live, whom we love, and who and what gets to interfere with our bodies. As Americans, men, women, people, gay, straight, LGBTQ, all of us have the human right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
