Deputy chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Major General Muhammad Siddique disbursed cheques for Rs 70 million to 712 Co-operatives scandal affected persons at a ceremony held at Chamba House here on Thursday.
Director General NAB Punjab, Major General Qasim Qureshi and chairman Punjab Co-operative Board for Liquidation (PCBL), Brigadier Muhammad Farooq Maan (Retd.) were also present on the occasion.
Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Muhammad Siddique said that the Co-operatives victims have so far received an amount of Rs 9.77 billion of the total looted amount of Rs 14 billion.
He said that NAB is working to ensure provision of 100 percent dues of the affected people, so that they can get real relief.
"People should invest their savings with diligence and caution so that nobody can grab their hard earned money," he said, adding that the entire nation would have to contribute to efforts for the elimination of corruption from society, as NAB alone could not accomplish this Herculean task.
