President Pervez Musharraf has said certain Madaris are involved in training of militants which will have to be stopped, adding that these people are bringing bad name to our noble religion.
Addressing a big gathering of notables of Attock district at Khunda in Pindi Gheb on Saturday, he once again warned foreigners in Fata to leave Pakistan. He said there is no place for extremism, terrorism and sectarianism in our country, as these would disrupt our developmental activities.
He said we have to check this menace through internal unity. Musharraf said the country has no danger from outside and will have to get ourselves strong internally. He said the economic situation of the country is strong and resources are being spent for the welfare of the people. He said we have to work for attaining a respectable place for the country in the comity of nations.
Referring to the record allocation of funds for development projects, he said that Rs 415 billion have been earmarked under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) during the current fiscal year, and added that the PSDP used to be around Rs 70 billion in the past.
The President said through the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority, technical schools of high standard will be set up at district level and by 2010 one million people will be imparted technical training in different skills.
Musharraf said under the Rozgar Scheme all matriculates including boys and girls will be given loans at concessional interest rates to enable them to set up their own businesses. They can purchase rickshaws and sell consumer items of the Utility Stores Corporation through mobile utility stores.
The President said for the first time the parliament and the provincial assemblies are completing their five-year term and next general elections will be held this year. PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, in his address, assured that the people of Pakistan are united and following the Quaid's motto of unity, faith and discipline.
He paid tributes to Musharraf saying he is a courageous leader and facing all the challenges and working for the development of the country. Public Accounts Committee Chairman Malik Allahyar, in his address of welcome, said Pakistan has achieved development under the dynamic leadership of President Musharraf. He requested the President to upgrade two schools of Pindi Gheb and provision of gas and road facilities, which the President announced to accept. Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and some federal ministers were also present at the meeting.
