GC University (GCU) Lahore and Hong Kong Baptist University on Saturday signed an agreement to promote education and collaboration in research and academics between the two universities.
A 3-member delegation of the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) led by Professor Y. K. Fan visited GC University Lahore, on Saturday and called on its Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Aftab in the vice chancellor's committee room.
During the meeting, matters pertaining to the promotion of educational activities between the two universities were discussed. Under the agreement, the mutual exchange of faculty members and students will take place in order to promote research activities in both universities.
In his formal welcome reception, Vice chancellor GC University Lahore Professor Dr Khalid Aftab apprised the guests about the historic perspective and academic growth of the varsity disciplines. He also informed them about the different disciplines being offered to the students at the varsity and expressed his aspiration for mutual academic collaboration between the two institutions.
The Vice President of Hong Kong Baptist University Professor Y. K. Fan told about the different disciplines and research work being carried out at Hong Kong Baptist University. He highlighted those areas of study where their faculty has stronghold of academic excellence.
"We follow the format of 'Research Assessment Exercise' on regular basis to enhance the academic skills of our faculty members," Professor Fan told. He described in detail the Hong Kong Baptist University's School of Business, School of Communication, School of Chinese Medicine and Academy of Visual Arts besides the high level research work being carried on in the departments of Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Professor Fan proposed that 'Pakistan Chair' should be created at Hong Kong, which he argued would further help towards building relations between the two countries especially in terms of their mutual educational exchange programmes.
