Adele, while accepting 'Album of the Year' award at Grammys 2017, expressed her gratitude and love for her contemporary Beyonce. Adele beat out Beyonce in almost every major category where the two were pitted against each other at the 59th annual Grammy Awards.
Adele devoted much of her speech to praising Beyonce after she said she couldn't possibly accept the award.
Adele literally ruled this year as she has won five awards in the major categories including Album of the year (25), Song of the year (Hello), Record of the year (Hello), Best pop solo performance (Hello) and Best pop vocal album (25). On the other hand, even Beyonce bagged a lot of accolades starting from Best Contemporary Pop Album (Lemonade) and Best Video (Formation).
In her acceptance speech Adele said, "I'm very humbled and I'm very grateful and gracious, but my artist of my life is Beyonce, and this album to me the 'Lemonade' album was just so monumental, Beyonce, so monumental and so well-thought-out and so beautiful and soul-baring. We all got to see another side to you that you don't always let us see, and we appreciate that. All us artists here [expletive] adore you. You are our light".
She added, "The way that you make me and my friends feel the way you make my black friends feel is empowering, and you make them stand up for themselves, and I love you, I always have and I always will".
Beyonce was left in tears. The pregnant popstar was overwhelmed by the love she was receiving from her contemporary and started weeping.
