State-owned Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board (BTTB) is to extend its international economy call rates to another 30 countries in a move it expects to boost revenues.
A BTTB official said on February 28 that the board would introduce a 7.5 taka ($0.11) per minute flat rate for calls to Japan, South Africa and several countries in Europe, Africa and Central and Latin America.Peak rates to those countries are currently 27-30 taka, with off-peak rates of 21-24 taka. The board had found that previous moves to a flat rate had boosted revenues sharply.
