Apple said on February 26 that it would delay the debut of its Apple TV devices until March. Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs showed off the television-top boxes at a San Francisco press event in January and said they would be available in stores this month.
"Wrapping up Apple TV is taking a few weeks longer than we projected and we now expect to begin shipments mid-March," said Lynn Fox, a spokeswoman for the Cupertino, California, computer company's Macintosh division.
Apple TV enables viewers to stream digitally downloaded video from a desktop or laptop computer to a television, complementing Apple's online film service, which is available through the iPod maker's iTunes store. During his presentation, Jobs referred to Apple TV as "a really cool box." Apple TV comes equipped with a 40-gigabyte hard drive capable of storing up to 50 hours of video programming. It will be able to store videos, photos and music sent from computers within wireless range.
