Being the flagship entity of the nation, PSO places significant emphasis on its corporate social responsibility. The company aspires to make our society, a better place to live in and firmly believes in contributing to the community in which it operates.
Assistance in the form of corporate charitable donations and sponsorships are accorded to encourage programs directed towards social uplift. The company believes that children are our future and, as such, it invests heavily in supporting education at school and college levels.
PSO continues to support 'Karavan Pakistan' by organising monthly functions at PSO-House, to inculcate traffic safety sense and to educate school kids as well as special children about the various heritage sites of Pakistan. Also, generous contributions are made to various institutions, providing free mental and physical health facilities.
Directional signs at major streets, roads and landmarks of major cities of Pakistan continue to provide direction and safety advice. Another creative step towards the effective use of outdoor advertising encompasses the branding on the reverse side of Gantries displaying highly appealing citizenship messages.
PSO has been equally supportive through its macroscopic contribution to the earthquake relief and rehabilitation programme, aimed at restructuring the basic infrastructure of the Northern Areas. PSO believes that companies can no longer rely on operational excellence alone; they have to go beyond that by going the extra mile.
PSO supports education not only at the grass-root level by partnering with institutions like the Citizen Foundation (TCF), and other schools spread across the entire country, but also at senior levels by awarding scholarships, medals and internships to various colleges and universities like the IBA, LUMS, Aga Khan University Hospital, CBM, Karachi University, etc.
In the field of health, the company assists in providing relief to institutions like the 'Marie Adelaide Leprosy Center, Kidney Center, Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center, Children Cancer Foundation, etc.
Realizing the dire need of a much-needed trauma center, PSO successfully established a fully equipped Trauma Center at Khewra and an Operation Theater at JPMC.
PSO is strongly dedicated to the promotion of quality education in Pakistan. Under the umbrella of 'PSO Life Long e-Learning Programme', the company exclusively sponsored 10,000 e-learning Cards for promoting training and self-sustaining skills for meritorious individuals in selected institutions in collaboration with 'UNIDO'. This unique initiative from PSO added further value to its Strategic Corporate Citizenship under the umbrella of which PSO continues to sponsor various programmes in the areas of education, health, traffic and road safety, etc. This e-learning initiative is based on scratch cards, which were donated to the local institutions, universities and NGOs.
Today, PSO directly impacts the lives of over 2.5 million customers who visit its retail outlets and other facilities every day, as well as the community in general by virtue of its being the core custodian, assuming the responsibility of keeping the wheels of the economy moving through procurement, storage and supply of its life blood, the petroleum products.
The 2,000-strong PSO staff members are dedicated to maintaining that trust through concerted action, dedicated performance and a mindset to excel in their sphere of work.
PSO's efforts towards the cause of broad-based education in Pakistan does not end here. Where the 'Easy Learning Scratch Cards' was an initiative targeted at adults, the launch of the 'Early Childhood Education' CD-ROM for kids aged between 3-5 years is aimed at the young population.
During 2005-06, PSO sponsored the EXPO-Pakistan 2006, Women's EXPO, ITIF Asia, POGEE, Oil & Gas Power Energy Exhibition and the Cartage Contractors Conference to name a few. Sport is promoted at all levels - regional, national and international.
The company introduced customer-friendly and innovative offers for its esteemed customers during 2005-06, including joint promotions with companies like Unilever, Pizza Hut, Mobilink, TCS, etc. Also, a host of other schemes and promotions were run throughout the year, catering to the needs and preferences of PSO's diverse target audience.
At PSO, the staff continuously strive to add more value in a manner that makes each customer's visit to PSO, a truly memorable experience, as PSO is 'much more than just fuel'.
All PSO's activities, whether they be of a corporate/CSR nature or related to its brand-portfolio, are aimed at a singular objective; ie to make Pakistan State Oil, the preferred choice of discerning customers by enriching their lives day after day!
