Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has asked Sindh government to keep up its efforts to further improve law and order situation in the province which has started to show encouraging trends.
He said this while talking to Governor Sindh, Dr Ishrat ul Ibad Khan and Chief Minister Sindh, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, at the Governor's House here on Sunday. The Prime Minister, however, said that more needs to be done to check the incidence of street crimes in Karachi to ensure the safety of life and property of the citizens.
Advisor to Chief Minister on Home, Waseem Akhtar, apprised the Prime Minister of the overall law and order situation in the province, particularly in Karachi.
Shaukat Aziz said that people of Pakistan are politically aware and appreciate the development related initiatives undertaken by the government for their welfare. He said that this is evident from the fact that they have elected PML and MQM candidates in the recent by-elections.
Chief Minister told the Prime Minister that Sindh had greatly benefited from the agricultural policies of the federal government, which are immensely benefiting the agricultural sector and facilitating availability of agricultural products at reasonable rates to the consumer.
He also apprised the Prime Minister of the timely implementation of the development projects in Sindh. Governor and Chief Minister said that people of Sindh were grateful to President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz for taking personal interest in the development of Sindh. During the last seven years, they said, the province had witnessed a big socio-economic change.
Dr Ishrat ul Ibad Khan told the Prime Minister that government is taking various initiatives to transform Karachi into a modern metropolis. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Mohammad Ali Durrani, Federal Minister for Communication Shamim Siddiqui, were also present on the occasion.
