The District Governor, Pakistan Lions' Club International, Mohammad Afzal Sipra, has said that the Lions' Club will spend an amount of Rs 3.5 million for the restoration of eyesight of as many as 100 blind people during the year while 100 houses worth Rs 700 million will be handed over by the end of next month to victims of the October 8 deadly earthquake.
The district governor expressed these views while chairing a meeting of Lions' Club District here at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Monday. Over 120 members, including a large number of former district governors attended the meeting. The meeting discussed in detail the future strategy regarding the establishment of vocational training centers, educational centers in various jails and eye hospitals in various parts of the country.
The Vice District Governor, Khawaja Mohammad Akram, speaking on the occasion, said that every individual should play his role for the betterment of the society.
He expressed his determination that his team at the Lions' Club would continue its struggle in this regard in the future. He also welcomed the government's decision to establish excellency centers for the treatment of blind people.
