Pakistan Muslim League (N) Information Secretary Ahsan Iqbal has described President Pervez Musharraf's reference against Chief Justice of Pakistan as violation of the constitution.
In his statement issued on Friday, Ahsan Iqbal pointed out that agencies have been launching organised campaign since long against CJP, which proved that the government wanted to impose martial law on the Supreme Council which was already functioning under PCO.
The PML (N) information secretary noted that though the SC did not show so much boldness yet the government could not tolerate its verdict about Pakistan Steel Mills case. He went on to say that President, Prime Minister did not resign even the section officer was not transferred after the SC decision in the PSM case rather the PCJ was sacked.
"General Musharraf violated the constitution of taking this action, as the Supreme Judicial Council has power to take action against any judge after filing of reference" he said. Ahsan Iqbal claimed that General Musharraf action against the CJP was basically aim to avoid any notice of the SC against possible constitutional violations during upcoming Presidential elections.
