Following the rich academic and historical traditions of GC University Lahore, the varsity's Dramatic Club in collaboration with Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) is holding first Indo-Pak Drama Festival in the Bukhari Auditorium of the university from March 15.
The main feature of the theatrical performances would be the participation of different teams from India. The festival activities will span over eight days and will help extend recreational flair to the Lahorites. This opportunity would also facilitate both Pakistani and Indian talented young artists for sharing of ideas and knowing about each other's artistic performance. As many as 13 institutions, including three from India, would make their theatrical performances.
The GCU Dramatics Club will stage GB Shaw's "You Never Can Tell" on the first day. On the second day (March 16), three performances a mime 'Death Beat' and a play 'Basti Dad' by the UET, Lahore, Kuttay (dogs) by the Bahauddin Zakriya University, Multan, would be staged. On March 17, students from the Fatima Jinnah Women's University (FJWU) Rawalpindi would stage a ballet mime "Teray Ishq Nachaya" and students from the Lady Shiri Ram College, University of Delhi, would stage a play.
On March 18, Punjab University, Lahore will perform "Kuch Aur Kaalay Harf" followed by 'Toba Tek Singh' by Kamla Nehru College, Delhi University. Students from Hans Raj College, Delhi University, will stage an adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Macbeth" on the fifth day (March 19) followed by "Thread Mill" by National College of Arts, Lahore. Two plays will be staged on March 20. They are "Rooh Ka Natak" by the Indus Valley School of Arts and Design, Karachi, and 'Udas Ghar' by Balochistan University of Information Technology, Quetta.
