Hyderabad District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Muhammad Hussain Syed has directed the management of Crises Centre for Women in Distress here to keep the centre open round-the-clock to ensure medical and legal support in case of any emergency.
He issued the directive while presiding over a meeting regarding functioning of newly established Crises Centre for Women in Distress here on Friday. Addressing the meeting, the DCO said the centre had been established with the financial support from federal government, but the Hyderabad District Government (CDGH) had also decided to contribute in the activities of the centre to solve the immediate problems of distressed women and create awareness for the development of womenfolk in such a way that Hyderabad could be considered a model district for the protection of women.
He said that due to illiteracy, poverty and having been male dominated society, women were experiencing many difficulties in their social as well as professional fields, therefore, the government was giving top priority to bring the distressed women out of the crises.
He said that to achieve the objective, the government had provided many platforms for the welfare, empowerment and social protection of women and the centre was one of them.
The DCO directed the members of the management committee to prepare short-term strategy to solve immediate problems of women with the consultation of public representatives from union councils to Zila council, opinion leaders of the society, experts of reconciliation, legal aid and medical committees and finally police officials so that the problems could be solved within the shortest possible time.
He asked the members of the committee to remain in contact with the regional and national NGOs and other organisations not only to get the help, but also to follow their guidelines for the solution of problems under the modern methodology.
Speaking on the occasion, centre's Chairman Rafia Bangash said that though the centre had been established recently and was in process of its completion, the management of this centre had got the problems of many women in distressed as solved.
Rafia also assured the participants that a comprehensive planning was being prepared to deal the matters of the women on scientific manner. The meeting was attended by Hyderabad EDO (CDD) Shafaat Hussain Unar, members of management committee, including Nigar Gul Ansari, Noushin Usman, Urooj Fatima, Nooreen Rajput, Rukhana Rohi, Mahar Sultana, Almas Zaffar, Samina Shah and Sanam Malah.
