Lahore High Court, Multan bench Bar Association and District Bar Association have on Sunday announced to observe black-day on March 12-13 at the call of Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) and Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA).
The legal fraternity would boycott its professional duties in protest. Addressing the press conference after the meeting, Lahore High Court, Multan bench Bar Association President Mehmood Ashraf Khan said Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry is still the Chief Justice of Pakistan and he would be defended in the reference filed against him in Supreme Judicial Council.
He demanded the reference hearing should be held in open court, adding that 8,000 lawyers would stage protest demonstrations in all cities and towns of Southern Punjab. The way President Musharraf adopted is tantamount to the contempt of court, he observed.
