Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Sunday led a walk for environmental awareness from Margalla Track-3 to Gokina (Pir Sohawa). The walk was organised by Pakistan Green Task Force with the collaboration of Rawalpindi Medical College.
Among those who participated in the walk include High Commissioners of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mauritius, Australia and Ambassador of Hungry and a large number of students of Rawalpindi Medical College, Quaid-i-Azam University and International Islamic University.
Addressing the participants at the end of walk, the minister said that holding such walks were important to create awareness among people about environmental pollution and its harmful effects.
He said that education was an important key towards achieving the goal of environment awareness in colleges and universities across the country.
The minister said that government was committed to provide healthy environment to citizens and launched many projects for the preservation of natural beauty.
President Pakistan Green Task Force, Jamal Nasir and President Rawalpindi Medical College Professor Mussadiq Hussain also underlined the importance of creating awareness about healthy environment and fight against different diseases.
