PML-N Punjab President Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa at lawyers' convention termed the inactivation of Chief Justice darkest day of the history of judiciary saying the president had laid foundation stone for destruction of judicial system in the country by insulting the Chief Justice.
Addressing PML-N lawyers' convention, held in connection with 100-year celebrations of the wing, Khosa asked lawyers to launch protest agitation against the suspension of Chief Justice in such a humiliating way. He said General Pervez Musharraf claimed that Mian Nawaz Sharif tried to oust him like a peon. "Why doesn't he look at his own style?"
He (Musharraf) has violated constitution and democracy, he alleged. Referring to foreign police, he said that the rulers firstly trained Taliban in Afghanistan and then got them slaughtered by taking U-turn. He said that Kashmir was sold out and the rulers ruined entire country.
"The country is badly haunting from social, political, religious and ideological problems due to ill-advised policiess of rulers," Khosa regretted. He said that all corrupt persons had been appointed as governors and chief ministers of provinces under the guise of dispensation of justice.
He stressed upon lawyers' community to boycott such elements that were supporting the dictator while wearing black coats. He said that Mian Nawaz Sharif was the only political leader who advocated right even in front of gun. He claimed that President Musharraf threatened Nawaz Sharif of hanging and asked him to withdraw his retirement documents but Nawaz Sharif refused to do so.
"As a result his government was toppled and he was tortured in Attock and Karachi jails," he disclosed. "Those are still reluctant to participate in the All Parties Conference will have to review their thoughts. Our goal is to put the country back on track of democracy and all opposition parties should support us in this mission," he emphasised.
Speaking on the occasion, PML-N central leader Begum Tehmina Daultana said the nation was held hostage by a dictator. She said that the government of Nawaz Sharif having two third majority was toppled in October 99, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan was arrested and Chief Justice of Pakistan was detained in GHQ for hours. She said that silence prevailed everywhere, which was an indication of a massive storm.
Balochistan PML-N secretary general said the rulers had struck deals on Kashmir and Gwadar. He said that the Chief Justice of Pakistan was ousted like an ordinary employee. "In the USA, President is answerable to the court while in Pakistan the situation is vice-versa," he added.
MNA Rana Mahmoodul Hassan, MPA Nafees Ansari, former MPA Maulvi Sultan Alam, Presidents of district and high court bars Muhammad Akram Bhatti and Mahmood Ashraf Khan, Rafique Rajwana, Malik Irshad Rasool, Naeem Gorija, Malik Saleem, Allah Nawaz Durrani, Riaz Latifi, Ijaz Khan, Arbab Ahmad Syed and others also spoke on the occasion.
