A group of local lawyers led by former president of Rawalpindi Bar Association Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi on Saturday called on the non-functional Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry at his residence.
After the meeting, Naqvi told reporters that the Chief Justice was in high spirit. He said that Justice Chaudhry thanked the people in general and lawyers and media in particular for extending their support to him.
"My doors would always remain open for general public and my struggle is for supremacy and freedom of law and judiciary", he quoted Justice Iftikhar as saying.
"I have firm faith in Allah Almighty. I have no fear of anyone accept Allah and I will not hesitate to sacrifice my life for truth and righteousness", the Chief Justice said during the meeting, Naqvi added. The group comprised former secretary general, High Court Bar Association Saeed Yousuf Khan, Malik Shafique Ahmed and Rana Shakoor.
