Central Board of Revenue Chairman Abdullah Yousuf has called upon the traders and industrialists to voluntarily pay taxes on the income earned through exports or industrial production. He was addressing a representative delegation of All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association (Aptpma) in Faisalabad the other day.
The CBR chief said that the government had always been in favour of 'business-friendly' fiscal policies. He said that Pakistan's traders and industrialists were second to none in the world. To remove their grievances was on the priority with the government, he added
He assured Aptpma members that their problems would be looked into. He recounted measures the government had taken to facilitate the business community and preferences given to the textile sector. He asked them to take benefit from the government policies.
Aptpma Chairman Muhammed Saeed Shaikh presented address of welcome and highlighted some of the problems regarding refund claims, zero-rating of sales tax on utility bills and confusions that had put a few units in trouble. He also talked about protective duty on import of caustic soda and its implications.
Among others, former Aptpma chairman Shabbir Ahmed, regional chairmen Aftab Ahmed and Ajmal Farooq and Abdul Latif, collector sales tax, Parwez Sultan Rana, director general income tax, Qurban Ali, collector customs, Mehboob Saqib attended the meeting.
