A Special Public Prosecutor, Zulfikar Hussain Malghani has tendered his resignation as a protest against the government's action against the Chief Justice of Pakistan and making him non-functional. Malghani has been serving as special public prosecutor in Taunsa Sharif (Dera Ghazi Khan). He also returned his months salaries.
Talking to newsmen Malghani said that Chief Justice of Pakistan was humiliated and the prestige of judiciary was tarnished by the present government. "I have resigned from my post for the cause of prestigious judiciary and I was shocked to see the humiliation of Chief Justice of Pakistan," Malghani said.
The resignation of Civil Judge, Bahawalpur Saeed Khurshid Ahmad Pannuhan has already been forwarded by the District and Sessions Judge Syed Ijaz Hussain to the registrar of the Lahore High Court. The civil judge resigned in protest against "torture and humiliation" of Chief Justice of Pakistan.
Talking to newsmen here on Saturday, Saeed said, "I am firm on my decision and no one has yet persuaded or pressurised me, even by the judiciary high-ups or by the government officials."
He appreciated role of media during the ongoing crisis and added, "I have done nothing, just resigned from my post. I have done it for the honour of judiciary and there are no regrets."
When asked him about rumours on Thursday evening that in the morning he was called by the senior civil judge and the district judge and they had reportedly pressurised him to take back his resignation, he denied this and said that how and why anyone could pressurise him because it was his job and he resigned from it on the call of his conscience.
The judge once again thanked the media as well as the lawyers' community for honouring him on his step and stated that he had done nothing but just demonstrated his responsibility being a judicial officer and a Pakistani. He said he can't say anything more because his resignation is not yet accepted and he is still a government servant.
