Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Monday said that the government of Pakistan Muslim League (PML) and its coalition partners are united on major policy issues and will participate in the next general election from one platform.
He was talking to Governor Sindh, Dr Ishrat ul Ebad Khan who called on him here. The Prime Minister said that the Supreme Court reference is a purely constitutional matter and the opposition's attempts to politicize it, is damaging the sanctity of judiciary.
He said that the reference has been filed in the SJC after meeting all the constitutional requirements and the government is determined to promote the rule of law and it will accept the judicial verdict.
Shaukat Aziz said that the economic and political stability established by the government has put the country back on the track of sustainable development and the government will not let anyone retard the development process.
The Prime Minister said that the government has done away with politics of confrontation and promoted an atmosphere of congeniality in politics that has strengthened democracy and democratic institutions. He emphasised the need to solve all issues through dialogue and mutual consultation keeping the national interest supreme.
The Prime Minister the law and order situation in Sindh with the Governor and appreciated the efforts of the provincial government to maintain peace. The security and safety of people should be ensured, said the Prime Minister.
The Governor briefed the Prime Minister on the political situation, coalition matters and law and order situation in the province and the development projects being implemented there.
