Ufone fully supports mobile number portability (MNP) which would ensure enhanced cellular services and bring healthy competition in the booming telecom sector.
"We are up and ready with full support to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), resulting into smooth migration process while focusing on customer services and retention," said Ufone President and CEO Mubashir Naqvi while responding to a question at a press conference here on Monday.
Pakistan would be the first country to have this pro-consumer service in the region. This service is expected to be launched from March 23 through which a mobile phone consumer can change his service provider any time while keeping the same number and code unchanged.
Naqvi said there will be no compromise on quality of service, adding Ufone as a second largest player in the country is fully committed to its customers as well as stake holders with its focus on continuous expansion while aiming at number-one position in days to come.
The CEO said keeping in view the performance of the Ufone and the goals it has set to achieve, the year 2007 will be celebrated as the "Winning Year".
Giving details about the company's expansion plans, he said in this regard a contract of 550 million dollar has already been signed in the last quarter and Ufone is acquiring the most modern network infrastructure based on standard for future mobile communication, highly compatible for smooth and seamless migration to the 3G UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System).
In addition to the recent contract of 550 million dollar Ufone will be further investing in the network expansion in order to provide flawless and limitless service to its valued customers.
By the end of December 2007 Ufone will be extensively covering all the major cities, towns, villages and highways in the country and the major focus will be in rural areas by setting up 2500 more cell sites.
Ufone will focus on new marketing initiatives, competitive pricing, new products and brand building with value prepositions for target segments, he said, adding the network expansion roll out has been meticulously planned to provide flawless coverage and excellent connectivity to the subscribers, differentiating Ufone from the others by a reliable and efficient network.
"Ufone is focused on network reliability and premium connectivity while excellence in customer service with a slogan of service first, accuracy in billing and extensive coverage remain the main component of its strategy resulting into the best cellular experience for a customer," Naqvi responded to another question.
Talking about various goals achieved during last year, Mubashir Naqvi said Ufone launched `postpay' which is a brand that targets all those people whose lives are just taking off and they are dynamic, contemporary and outgoing.
Naqvi added it provides endless features on their mobile phone so they can enjoy special discounts, virtual private network, GPRS, international roaming, quality network, exclusive customer care, accurate billing and the recently launched service U-Mail and much more.
Ufone was the first to launch simplified pricing that cleared the confusion by giving a flat rate to call any number, any network anywhere in Pakistan and the recent pricing initiative has hit the mass market under the name of pre-pay public demand, which offers 30 second billing @ 99 paisa only.
Packages like zero line rent, friends and family and SMS buckets provided a freedom to communicate to the Ufone subscribers.
