He said that the corrupt government had given nothing except darkness and despair to the people. He questioned how a country could progress if its president was engaged in looting and plundering, adding that the greed and lust of the person sitting in the President's House had destroyed the whole system. The chief minister further said that new scandals of the federal government were being exposed almost daily and that PIA, Pakistan Railways, Steel Mills and other institutions had been ruined by corruption, while inflation and unemployment had made the lives of the people miserable. He claimed that corruption had been promoted in the name of rental power plants during the last three years and that no attention had been paid to the generation of power to keep industries working.
Shahbaz Sharif observed that the country had plunged into darkness due to the wrong policies of the government, adding that the poor had lost their livelihoods and that the export orders of billions of rupees had been cancelled. He said that the nation might have to face even more loadshedding in the near future.

He said that President Zardari and his lackeys were engaged in the ruthless plunder of the resources of the country. He said that in 1947, a struggle was waged to obtain freedom from Hindu imperialism and that now the PML-N had decided to get rid of the corrupt Zardari government for the survival and of the country. He said that the people were looking towards PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif to lead them in the struggle against the inefficient rulers. He said that the PML-N would save Jinnah's and Iqbal's Pakistan from corrupt and inefficient rulers and would transform it into an Islamic welfare state in the real sense so that justice be available to every citizen, resources be distributed equitably and equal opportunities of progress be available to all. He said that all patriotic citizens would participate in the Save Pakistan rally to prove that the country had not been created for looters and plunderers, but for upholding justice and Islamic values. He said that nothing could be more important than the survival of the country and that every sacrifice would be made in this regard.
