According to recent media reports, YouTube will no longer be playing unskippable 30-second ads come 2018.
Tech giant, Google has decided to change its approach towards its video services advertising, while opting for shorter and better impacting, more engaging formats.
Google while giving a statement to foreign media said, Were committed to providing a better ads experience for users online. As part of that, weve decided to stop supporting 30-second unskippable ads as of 2018 and focus instead on formats that work well for both users and advertisers.
Its highly likely that unskippable ads wont be done with entirely; as Youtube did just introduce unskippable six-second bumper ads back in april and there is no implication otherwise that those 15-20 seconds ads which cannot be skipped will be completely removed.
It has not been disclosed yet, when exactly in 2018, Youtube will be discontinuing the 30-second format in its entirety.
