Pakistan's Ambassadors in Algeria, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia must work together with a common approach to identify untapped markets for Pakistan's exports, and also to enhance the image of Pakistan.
There is an imperative need to focus on creating products and service awareness in these countries, otherwise the bilateral trade, and especially exports, would remain in low figures."
This was stated by Majyd Aziz, President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), while talking to Rizwan-ul-Haq Mahmood, Ambassador-designate to Morocco, who along with Tariq Soomro, Deputy Chief of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, called on him at KCCI.
The KCCI chief said that the Ambassadors must ensure that they have developed a working relationship with the trade chambers in their countries of posting, and that efforts should be initiated to disseminate information on various aspects to all trade chambers in Pakistan. The use of e-mails and internet is vital for achieving this objective, he added.
He said that the Ambassadors and Commercial Consuls must keep vigil on the issuance of tenders so that Pakistani companies too could venture to participate in them. He said that changes in the laws that may have impact on bilateral trade should also be forwarded immediately to the chambers in Pakistan.
Rizwan-ul-Haq said that he has been actively involved in many missions abroad and knows the mindset of foreign buyer. He said that he has plenty of experience in fomenting bilateral ties and finding new markets. He added that he is also concerned with developing market access for Pakistan's goods and services. -PR
