A leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Akhlaq Hussain Abidi has said that now judicial crisis would be ended as Rana Bhagwandas has assumed as Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan and judicial system would be strengthened in the country.
Speaking at three-day workshop on investigative reporting on election jointly organised by Pakistan Press Foundation with the collaboration of The Asia Foundation (TAF) here on Saturday. He said the MQM was endeavouring to bring the 98 percent people into power through their real representation.
He said that some selected families and classes ruled the country and they always exploited the down trodden people and never did anything for their welfare. Consequently Pakistan could not achieve the targets of prosperity, economic & political stability while other countries like China which got independence after Pakistan are progressing by leaps and bound. He claimed the Muttahida was striving hard to introduce a real welfare society and it was neither a linguistic organisation nor a secessionist force.
He said that it was renamed as Muttahida Qaumi Movement in 1992 the then government launched an operation against it. Consequently our l7,000 activists were martyred.
To a question, he said, "We had ever joined a coalition government for safeguarding the rights of the middle class. He said the MQM was being expanded in other provinces. Now it enjoyed the only six percent representation in the assembly but it was performing its duties and responsibilities up to the entire satisfaction of the masses.
He said that it was a part of propaganda against the MQM that it believes in violence, hooliganism and unlawful activities. The MQM was ready to join hands with the opposition if it demands for reconstitution of the election commission, or changing the electoral rules and code of ethics, he asserted.
He disclosed that there would have been the government of MQM in the country, if Altaf Hussain had issued tickets to Waderas, Jagiradars and feudal lords. But he gave the party tickets to the middle and lower class people while the PPP and PML-N awarded tickets to the privileged class.
To a question, he replied that there was no successor of Altaf Hussain like Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. To another question he said the MQM would not support the Kalabagh dam unless the people of Sindh would not permit for its construction. He assured that he would try his best to get lift ban on the recruitment.
