The USAID in collaboration with Malaysian government will introduce modern forestry system in NWFP on the pattern of Malaysian Model forestry system. It is pertinent to note that Malaysia is known as a model for the effective promotion and protection of forest and as a main source for the income generation and job creation.
The adoption of Malaysian model in NWFP will financially strengthen the province. The assurance to this effect was given to the NWFP Minister for Finance and Environment Shah Raz Khan by USAID Controller Dr Warren Wiestein in a meeting held at Civil Secretariat Peshawar on Saturday. The meeting was attended by Chief Conservator Forest, Dr Muhammad Iqbal Swati, Dr Muhammad Iqbal Sial and other officers.
Shah Raz said that the provincial government would take concrete measures for strengthening Pak-German wood working centre and make it more effective and functional. He added that the govt was planning to provide wood to the said centre and the centre would provide furniture to the schools especially to the girls schools in the province.
He said that USAID would also provide technical and financial assistance for the establishment of wood seasoning plants at Peshawar, Malakand and Mardan due to which the precious wood would be saved from being wasted.
He added that modern razor cutting system would be introduced for wood cutting in the province. He said that the USAID and Malaysian govt would also provide machinery for the installation of solid waste recycling plant.
