Visiting German Parliamentarians, Sebastain Edathy and Philip Winkers have said Germany wants dialogue with Iran over its nuclear programme and not war. They said this in a panel interview on a TV channel here on Sunday along with German Consul General Kiderlen in Karachi who agreed with the view of the two German parliamentarians.
They said that the situation in Iraq was not peaceful at all while in Afghanistan, Germany participated with other forces along with USA in fighting international war on terrorism.
The parliamentarians maintained that winning the war against international terrorism was important and in this connection Germany appreciated the role of Pakistan.
As regards the US policy in respect of Iraq, they said that any changes in the US policy on Iraq was for the US people to decide and already the elected representatives in the USA were engaged in discussing the matter.
Parliamentarian Phillip Winkers and Sehastain Edathy strongly supported the efforts at peaceful resolution of the Palestinian conflict and the emergence of Palestinian Arab state and peace with Israel.
They said that the peace process in Palestine must be given support for success by all parties involved.
They said Pakistan-German relations were growing and there was great scope for bilateral exchange in the education and cultural fields as also in respect of better trade ties and joint projects. They looked forward to the growth of stronger bilateral ties between Germany and Pakistan.
