Moong, masoor recorded sharp rise while other items gained modestly on the commodities wholesale markets during the week ended on March 24, 2007. Changes, however, were marked in cottoncakes, rapeseeds, moong, masoor and wheat.
The week opening session marked changes in cottonseed oilcakes with bags low type closed lower by Rs 10 to Rs 590, while superior type ended higher by Rs 5 to Rs 660, wheat Mexipak rose by Rs 15 to Rs 1225 while better type was quoted at Rs 1240.
On Tuesday rapeseeds Nawabshah closed higher by Rs 50 to Rs 850 and better type was quoted higher at Rs 860, rapeseed Mirpur low type was higher by Rs 60 while better type was higher by Rs 40 to Rs 915, rapeseed cakes quoted higher (inferior) at Rs 335 while other was quoted at Rs 340, til low type ended higher by Rs 75 to Rs 1700, while the other ended higher by Rs 100 to Rs 2000, makai good type ended higher by Rs 25 to Rs 1250 while the other type stayed put at Rs 1200. Wheat old type shed Rs 5 to Rs 1210 and better type lost same amount to Rs 1225, Irri 6 Sindh lost Rs 20 to Rs 1410 while the other was quoted at Rs 1430.
On the Jodia Bazar chemical prices (per kg) had changes in caustic soda flakes Saudi rose by Re 1 to Rs 36 while Sodium Sulphate closed down by 10 paisa to Rs 8.80, Petroleum jelly PVA Japan rose by Rs 1.40 to Rs 158.40, Rangolite C (per pound) China's closed down by Re 1 to Rs 42, and Germany's ended down by Rs 2 to Rs 75, hydro-sulphite China's 88 pc closed higher by 50 paisa to Rs 44, hydrogen peroxide (35pc) Taiwan moved lower by 50 paisa to Rs 29.50, same item from Korea 5pc went down by Rs 1.25 to Rs 39 and same item from Thailand closed lower by Re 1 to Rs 29.
On Wednesday moong from Punjab rose by Rs 100 to Rs 3750,, masoor Canada rose by Rs 350 to Rs 3250, wheat Mexipak old and new both types lost Rs 5 each to Rs 1205 and other was quoted at Rs 1220, gram Australia rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2750 and better type was quoted at Rs 2900.
On Thursday Jodia Bazar had variations in Kirana items such as white pepper (per 40 kgs) closed lower by Rs 800 to Rs 9200, cloves ended lower by Rs 600 to Rs 9600, dry ginger from China closed down by Rs 100 to Rs 3550, and Saunf was down by Rs 200 to Rs 2800. Elsewhere juwar gained Rs 10 to Rs 1100 and Rs 1110, wheat Mexipak old and new retreated sharply by Rs 25 to Rs 1180 and the other type was quoted at Rs 1195, bajra inferior type gained Rs 75 to Rs 1175, while the better type gained by Rs 50 to Rs 1300, Irri white gained Rs 10 to Rs 1240 and the other type was quoted at Rs 1250, rapeseed Nawabshah rose by Rs 20 to Rs 870 and better type was quoted at Rs 880, rapeseed cakes rose marginally by Rs 5 to Rs 915 and the better type was quoted at Rs 920. Friday was closed holiday in wholesale commodity markets.
On Saturday prices showed mixed trend. Sharp fluctuations were seen in grams' rates ranging from Rs 25 to Rs 125.
