Industrial Information Network (IIN) is a unique combination of Business to Business (B2B) and business information portal designed specifically to cater the online trading and information needs of business from various industrial sectors in the country.
According to official sources, IIN, an outcome of the Information Technology (IT) programme of the government aims to make use of Information Technology for industrial and economic development in Pakistan.
They said that IIN was envisioned to be the largest and most comprehensive source of industrial information and the biggest e-commerce portal in the country.
The IIN, they said is a joint venture of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom (Moitt) and the Ministry of Industries, Production and Special Initiatives (MOIP&SI), with Small and Medium Enterprise development Authority (Smeda) as the executing agency.
The main objective of IIN, is the promotion of e-commerce in Pakistan by providing B2B and business information services, capacity building of small and medium enterprises using IT as the tool, providing access to world markets and strengthening business outreach and facilitation by providing latest business information, they added.
They said IIN also provides vital business information and institutional support services which are useful and beneficial to all those who intend to do business "in Pakistan or with Pakistan".
IIN, they said also offers B2B online trading platform, industry specific information - initially focusing on textile and leather industry of the country. It also offers general business support information and online services. The IIN also provides information on industrial exhibitions, training and seminars in Pakistan and around the world, they added.
The IIN offers authentic business leads, buying inquiries, selling offers and trade agent reach.
This opens new opportunities for local businesses to offer their products and services globally. "User friendly online business directories offers complete contact information of national and international exporters, importers, manufacturers, agents, trade association members etc" they said.
