All religious, social, and political parties along with the lawyers on Monday will take out a peaceful rally for the restoration of non-functional Chief Justice of Pakistan from Nilla Gumbud to Lahore High Court.
No restriction by the district administration and law enforcement agencies would be tolerated. The leaders as well as the workers would not hesitate to even sacrifice their lives for the solidarity of the country and protection of the Constitution.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday at Lahore Press Club, the central leader of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) Liaqat Baloch said that all the political parties should join their hands to get rid of the dictatorship for restoration of the democracy and protection of 1973 Constitution.
He said that if they did not do so, the history would never forgive them for such a grave negligence.
In the presence of General Pervez Musharraf, transparent, fair, free and impartial elections could not be expected because rulers were doing unconstitutional and unlawful deeds just for the sake of power, he said and added they could do anything wrong for the lust for power. He warned the nation that if they did not play their due role at this critical juncture to oust the army ruler.
He said that it is the responsibility of every citizen of the country to participate in the rally and raise his or her voice against the aggression of the dictator towards the Supreme Court. He further said the countrywide protests against the illegal action of President General Pervez Musharraf would be started from April 1.
In reply to a question, he said although there were some controversies among the political parties yet they would not allow the government to take advantage of it.
He said in the past there were some differences of opinion between the MMA, Peoples Party and ARD, but now all the leaders of these political parties agreed on the issue of "judiciary crisis".
He said that it was decided after the meeting of the high ups of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal and Pakistan Peoples Party to launch a joint protest and adopt mutual strategy to tackle the illegal and anti-masses policies of the government, he maintained.
He said the government was adopting non-democratic means to curb the human rights. The workers of the political parties were being arrested in large number so that they could not participate in the protest rallies.
Moreover raids had been conducted by the police at the residences of the political workers to harass their family members, he deplored. The MMA leader demanded of the government to release all the arrested workers immediately, otherwise it would be responsible for all consequences.
