Inspector General Police (IGP) NWFP, Sharif Virk has said that Dera Range Police had always exhibited excellent performance against miscreants and notorious criminals and this time too they will give matching response to the threats posed to law and order situation.
He was addressing 'Police Darbar' at D.I. Khan on Sunday which was largely attended by police officers and Jawans, said a press release issued here.
DIG Dera Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema, DPO D.I. Khan Gul Afzal Afridi, DPO Tank, Mumtaz Zarin and other high ranking officers were also present on this occasion.
The IGP pointed out that police duty was full of dangers and difficulties, which demanded of the Jawans to be courageous and hard worker and if it was performed with good intentions and sincerity it becomes 'worship'.
Referring to the unprecedented performance and sacrifices of the NWFP police officers and Jawans during Muharram in Peshawar and D.I. Khan, the IGP said such events were planned to demoralise police, but the force performed its duty with extreme sincerity and devotion. The IGP went on to say that in these incidents the officers and Jawans offered supreme sacrifices of their precious lives and thus earned good reputation for the force and improved its image in society.
He said due to close proximity with South Waziristan, police in Dera has to demonstrate more vigilance and should have to come out successful against the criminals.
While giving guidelines to the police, the IGP directed the participants to exhibit integrity, further improve public dealing and differentiate between accused and criminals at Thana level.
They were further directed to enhance their intelligence network, workout the pending cases, maintain Roznamcha and regularly pursue cases in courts.
Referring to the problems and difficulties being faced by the force, the IGP said efforts were afoot to address these as per requirement.
He informed that instead of purchasing cars and vehicles for the officers, he gives priority to buy vehicles for subordinate staff and for this purpose 50 pick-ups and 81 motorcycles would be provided till the month of June.
Similarly, he continued, six APCs would be purchased for D.I. Khan, Tank and Lakki Marwat districts. He further informed that condition of police stations, police posts and residential houses would be made better and standardised.
The IGP also announced establishment of a police hospital and police public school at D.I. Khan.
