Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) has advised mango exporters to file their claims for freight subsidy, from now, with the Plant and Protection Department of Minfal and not with TDAP.
TDAP official said that freight subsidy on the export of mangoes had been excluded from the general freight subsidy scheme of TDAP and now only Plant and Protection Department would entertain these claims.
He said that this decision had been taken to avoid double payment of freight subsidy to mango exporters as both TDAP and Plant Protection Department were involved in taking up freight subsidy applications.
He advised all mango exporters who filed their claims for subsidy with TDAP, to re-apply their claims with Plant and Protection Department for availing payment. From now, TDAP will not process the claims of mango exporters for payment, he added.
He, however, maintained that TDAP would continue to process claims for freight subsidy of other notified export items. It may be noted that both TDAP and Minfal were processing freight subsidy applications as a matter of their policies to promote country's exports.
TDAP, formerly known as Export Promotion Bureau, was paying freight subsidy on the export of mango under a notification of August 31, 2006 whereas Plant and Protection Department was doing so on the instructions of Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock (Minfal).
