A large Group of Companies located on Daska-Sialkot Road was inspected under the orders of the additional district judge Sialkot and it was found violating the copyright law by using pirated software on its computer network.
"The two commissioners amongst others including computer experts were permitted by the court to inspect the said premises and found unlicensed software being used on its computer network," said the legal representative for Microsoft, here Tuesday.
In a press statement, he said that the group manufactures surgical equipment, electro-medical, dental and manicure instruments, hollow-ware, garments and sportswear. The group's name has been withheld for legal reasons, he added.
During the inspection, a number of popular computer programmes including Adobe PhotoShop, AutoCAD, Microsoft Windows, Corel Draw and Norton Anti Virus were found in illegal use of this Group of Companies, he said. He explained that the court in accordance with the Copyright Ordinance, 1962 granted the inspection of the offices of the Group of Companies.
