Central chairman of the LPG Distributors Association Pakistan (LPGDAP) Muhammad Irfan Khokhar has flayed fresh increase in the price of liquefied petroleum gas and termed it as an 'unlawful act' on part of the marketing companies.
LPG marketing companies have increased the price of LPG by Rs 3 per kg which is not fair, he said here on Wednesday. Effective from March 28, 2007, the price of a domestic cylinder has soared by Rs 30 and commercial cylinder by Rs 115, he pointed out. Despite the decline in the price of LPG in the international market by $50 per ton, the marketing companies have raised the same in the local market, He claimed.
He urged the government to immediately take notice of the situation and exert pressure on the marketing companies for withdrawal of this fresh increase.
He also demanded of the government to form a high-level national committee to prepare a comprehensive strategy with a view to giving protection to the business of LPG distributors as well as saving the consumers across the country.
