The government of Pakistan will hand over a TV transmitter to the government of Afghanistan as a gift. In this connection a ceremony will be held at PTV headquarters here on Thursday, where Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Durrani would be the chief guest.
Director Engineering (P&P) PTV Qazi Mustafa Kamal told APP that the 4.6 million rupees gift consists of a TV transmitter with allied equipment. It is hoped that it would help Afghan government to upgrade its television network in the country.
Pakistan has already committed an amount of 300 million dollars for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Afghanistan. It has donated 100 buses, 300,000 student kits, 50,000 food packages and 9,600 tents to Afghanistan in the past, besides execution of different projects in communications, health and education sectors.
The projects include Rs 1,200 million Jinnah Hospital project in Kabul, Allama Iqbal Faculty Block at Kabul University, Sir Syed Post Graduate Science Faculty Block in Nangarhar University, Jalalabad, Liaquat Ali Khan Engineering Faculty Block in Bulkh University, Mazar Sharif and Nishtar Kidney Center, Jalalabad, Nishtar Kidney Health Centre, Jalalabad, general hospital, Logar and Fatima Jinnah Nuclear Medicine Center, Kabul and Chaman-Spin Boldak railway link.
