The Hydro Labour Union CBA of Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO) Thursday cancelled its protest movement scheduled for next month after holding successful negotiations with Chief Executive of the company.
Gohar Taj, Secretary General Hydro Electric Union briefed the Chief Executive PESCO Brigadier Sakhi Marjan about the difficulties of field staff. He thanked chief executive for taking personal interest for the redressing problems of employees and was optimistic that the existing co-operation between Union and management would be further strengthened with the passage of time. Chief Executive PESCO directed the concerned officials to ensure the redressal of grievances immediately. PESCO directed to take up the promotion/up gradation and training cases according to authority's policy and rules.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that company has taken a number of steps for the welfare of its employees, expressing the hope that the existing co-operation between union and management would be strengthened with the passage of time. PESCO workers must take all out efforts to reduce line losses, increase recovery and adopt all precautionary measures to ensure safety of precious lives.
Those present on the occasion were including Director Human Resources Syed Muntazir Shah, Director HRM Muhammad Iqbal Haider, Director Labour and Legal Muhammad Salim Jehangir, Chairman Hydro Electric Labour Union Haji Abdul Latif, and senior union representatives.
Chief Executive PESCO Brigadier Sakhi Marjan said, PESCO is striving hard to facilitate its employees. In this regard, a number of steps had already been taken to provide basic facilities to all of its employees in spite of facing billions of losses. He told the labour representatives that the problems of PESCO employees are being addressed on top priority.
He stressed the need to curb the electricity misuse, and CBA must also motivate the workers to use T&P while working on lines to ensure safety. He assured that the recruitment policy of the son of martyred PESCO employees will be continued and one son of bereaved family will be recruited as per Wapda rules.
He said that in this respect a number of martyred sons had already been recruited. He said that recruitment under employee's son's quota of 20 percent would be followed according to the rules. He said that PESCO management has recently promoted number of PESCO employees under different categories and this process is continued.
