Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) was celebrated with religious zeal and reverence in the city on Sunday with the pledge to work for the restoration of peace in the Muslim world. The highlight of the day were rallies and processions taken out from different parts of the city which congregated in the afternoon at Nishtar Park where central Milad-e-Mustafa conference was held.
The main procession was taken out from Kharadar, led by Allama Shah Turabul Huq Qadri of Jamaat Ahl-e-Sunnat. It marched through M A. Jinnah Road to reach Nishtar Park. Many smaller processions joined the main procession in the process.
At Nishtar Park, leaders of the Ahl-e-Sunnat Jaamat addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of the day and shed light on the teachings of Holy Prophet Hazrat Mohammed (PBUH). They emphasised the need for maintaining solidarity among the Muslim Ummah to fight against evils that were there to differentiate among them on sectarian basis and break their unity.
Throughout the route of the processions strict security measures were taken to check any untoward incident. More than 6000 law enforcement personnel were posted to protect the precisionists from any act of terrorism. All roads connecting M A Jinnah Road were blocked with containers, and barricades were erected where necessary. On rooftops of all buildings rangers were posted to provide protection to the processions.
Provincial Adviser on Home Affairs Waseem Akhtar supervised the security arrangements. In their separate messages, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan and Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim had called upon the people to maintain peace and observe the day with solemnity it deserved.
In another gathering at Mehfil-e-Murtaza where Jashn-e-Eid-e-Milid-un-Nabi was celebrated, Allama Asghar Dars spoke on the life of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and called upon the people to draw inspiration from his life. A large number of people belonging to different schools of thought attended the celebrations.
