The National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain has said that the government is mobilising huge funds to increase literacy rate in the country. Speaking as chief guest at annual prize distribution ceremony of Model Girls High School Ugoki about 7 kilometres from here on Monday.
He lauded the tremendous role of the Punjab government for the promotion and expansion of education costing billions of rupees in the Punjab. Chaudhry Amir Hussain stressed upon the parents that they should provide equal opportunities of education to their boys and girls because obtaining of education was the equal right of everyone.
Under the present circumstances, the education of females had become more imperative and parents should accord special attention of the education of their daughters, he added. Chaudhry Amir Hussain further stated that Pakistan is a under developing country and collective efforts should be made for increasing the literacy rate aimed at converting it into a developed state, adding that without obtaining education a nation could not be developed and attain its yielding required results.
The government was making strenuous efforts for developing the public-private partnership for widening the opportunities of education in the country, he said. The National Assembly speaker said the provision of education is a big task and government alone could not fulfil the rapid requirement single-handedly, adding that through public-private partnership the burden of the government would be reduced.
Chaudhry Amir Hussain further stated the government was encouraging the private sector in setting up educational institutions, adding that at present over 90,000 private educational institutes were catering the needs of education in the country, he added.
The role of private sector in the promotion of education was highly creditable and it would help in enhancing the literacy rate considerably in the country, he added. On this occasion, he underscored the need of making collective efforts for the stability, steadfastness and purging the ranks from hypocrisy and dispersion for the all round development of Pakistan.
The country had been tracked on the road of development and prosperity and collective efforts were direly needed for ensuring the process of continuity of development and it is our national and religious duty that we should work jointly for accelerating the pace of development of the country, he added. In his address of welcome president Model Town Housing Society Ugoki Khalid Waseem highlighted various achievement of the school.
He disclosed that a modern stadium costing Rs 10 million was being developed in the area besides a community hall was being constructed while road network was being improved. Earlier, the Speaker National Assembly distributed the prizes among the students on their outstanding performance in examinations.
