Former Australia cricket captain Greg Chappell, who quit as India coach this week, underwent medical tests in a Mumbai hospital on Saturday. Chappell, who had been due to return home on Friday night via Singapore, put off the journey after he complained of feeling unwell.
"He was admitted as out-patient at 11 am (local time) and left for his hotel two hours later on completion of check-ups," Bombay Hospital spokesperson Ashish Tiwari said. "There is no positive history of any complaints. He was only here for a routine check-up."
The Indian cricket board convened a two-day meeting on Friday into the team's first-round exit at the World Cup and the 58-year-old Chappell was asked to present a report on his 22-month tenure. Chappell, who resigned as India coach on Wednesday, complained of dehydration and uneasiness after the meeting. The doctors had advised him to have a complete medical check-up before taking the flight home.
Meanwhile, the board has suggested that Chappell remains involved with cricket in India, possibly working on developing youngsters at the National Cricket Academy.
