Azad Jammu Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan has called upon the legal fraternity to utilise best of their professional talent and abilities to ensure the dispensation of speedy justice to the needy.
This, he said, while addressing the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected office-bearers of Mirpur District Bar Association here on Tuesday. The Prime Minister said fully furnished libraries for the lawyers in all eight districts of AJK in the near future would be established.
The newly-elected President and General Secretary of the Bar as well as other lawyers also spoke on this occasion and highlighted the problems confronted by the local legal fraternity during performance of their professional duties. The Prime Minister called upon the lawyers to guide and move for the supremacy of law besides to maintain the decorum of merit.
He said his government strictly believed in the implementation of merit. "Since I struggled for a long time to attain and safeguard the principle of merit", he added. Sardar Attique said that heavy mandate was given by the people to the Muslim Conference on the basis of its performance and its people-friendly policies, and added the Muslim Conference was performing under an integrated policy.
The AJK premier said it was the responsibility of the government to resolve the problems and his regime had focused to achieve the task, adding that his government would be taking all effective steps for the redressal of grievances of lawyers.
Sardar Attique assured to make the appointment of Reference Judge in the near future, and also announced to establish housing colonies for the lawyers' community besides residential quota in all proposed Satellite towns for the members of the legal community. The Prime Minister also assured to construct the latest office chambers for the lawyers on rental basis. The AJK Prime Minister inaugurated a photo exhibition about Kashmir arranged by Chartered Bank here on Monday.
