High payments with the beginning of the fourth and last quarter of the current fiscal year, built pressure over the rupee slightly, losing two paisa against the dollar in the interbank market for buying and selling at Rs 60.80 and Rs 60.82, money experts said.
The rupee faced setback over the rising demand for dollars in late hours on Tuesday, touching the new high at 60.88, they said. Both foreign and local banks bought nearly 200 million dollars to meet the payment requirements, they added. In the world markets, the euro was higher against the dollar and yen, dealers said.
OPEN MARKET RATES: In line with the interbank trend, the rupee shed three paisa against the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 60.75 and Rs 60.85, dealers said. The rupee followed same pattern losing four paisa for buying and selling at Rs 81.15 and Rs 81.25, they said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee failed to maintain upward trend and lost its value by 10 paisa in relation to the greenback in the local currency markets on Wednesday.
According to the currency dealers, the dollar resumed trading at Rs 60.65 and Rs 60.75 on buying and selling sides, respectively. As a result of demand, the dollar moved up and finally closed at Rs 60.70 and Rs 60.80 on buying and selling counters, respectively, they added.
However, the rupee recovered some of its earlier loss and appreciated its worth against the pound sterling. The pound was purchased at Rs 118.40 and sold at Rs 118.70 against overnight closing of Rs 119.00 and Rs 119.30 respectively, the dealers said.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The buying and selling rates of dollar against the rupee remained unchanged in the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
The dollar opened at Rs 60.75 (buying) and Rs 60.85 (selling) against the previous rate. It did not observe any change in the evening spell and closed at Rs 60.75 (buying) and Rs 60.85 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 119 (buying) and Rs 119.20 (selling) against the last rate. It did not observe any change in the second spell and closed at Rs 119 (buying) and Rs 119.20 (selling).
