The Supreme Judicial Council hearing the Presidential Reference against Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has issued the following instructions/guidelines for members of the bar, media men and the public visiting the Supreme Court on the days of hearing of reference.
(1) Advocates of the Supreme Court/Advocates-on-Record whose cases are fixed for hearing before any of the benches on such days will be allowed entry. The litigants visiting the Court on such days will be allowed entry on proof of identity.
(2) Advocates Supreme Court/Advocates-on-Record may visit the Bar Room and the Court offices in connection with official business.
(3) Media personnel interest in the coverage of routine proceedings of the Court may enter the court rooms. However, they are not allowed to carry mobile phones/cameras beyond the Reception.
The Supreme Judicial Council expected that the learned Advocates, media personnel and the members of the public shall strictly observe the general norms of decorum and propriety associated with the dignity of the apex court.
Meanwhile, various bar councils, bar associations and legal bodies have given a call for boycott of the courts tomorrow 13th April to press their demand for withdrawal of the Presidential Reference against the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
Pakistan Bar Council is holding an important meeting today (Thursday) under chairmanship of Vice Chairman Ali Ahmad Kurd to chalk out its future plan of action.
